Our HVAC design process resolves many issues, including:

  • Room overheating and air quality degradation during use, making your room an uncomfortable place to be for long periods.
  • Intrusive HVAC noises such as hisses and rumbles that detract from your enjoyment.

We stop you:

  • Relying on the expertise of a local HVAC contractor who doesn’t understand the requirements of high-performance audio/video rooms.
  • Failing to get the HVAC right the first time and having to either live with poor performance or commit to expensive and messy retrofits to fix design problems.

The Issues We Solve Through HVAC Design

The Benefits Of HVAC Design

Get your HVAC right the first time:

  • Keep your room cool and conditioned, even when filled with people.
  • Stop the air in your room from becoming stale and stuffy.
  • Eliminate whooshing noises from air moving across HVAC registers.
  • Protect your equipment investment by providing it with adequate cooling.

What’s Included?

Acoustic Frontiers’ HVAC Design service is a data-based approach to creating the optimal HVAC system design for your listening room, home theater, or home recording studio.

Getting your HVAC system right is a joint effort between your HVAC contractor and us. We handle the specifics of properly designed HVAC in a high-performance audio/video room, and they handle the generics of right-sizing and selecting compressors, air handlers, and ductwork.

Here’s how HVAC design with Acoustic Frontiers works:

  1. We calculate and document heat loads from audio/video equipment selections, the number of people in the room, and lighting.
  2. We create an HVAC system line drawing, showing the conceptual placement and details of supplies, returns, sound isolating muffler boxes, and registers.
  3. Work with your HVAC contractor to ensure they understand the requirements for heat load, comfort, and noise.
  4. Using our input, your HVAC contractor calculates how much air is required to keep the room cool and ventilated, what size ducts are required, and what HVAC equipment to use.
  5. We review the HVAC design your contractor comes up with and make sure it meets our performance standards.
